Board Member

Tami Tobar and her husband of 31 years have been residents of McKinney since 1999. They have 3 adult sons who are all graduates of McKinney Boyd High School and one rescue dog name B.B. (Short for Betty Boop).

Tami served as the Business Services and Child Watch Director for 15 years with the McKinney YMCA before joining the McKinney Chamber of Commerce in October 2019 as their Investor Relations Manager. She currently serves as the Board Campaign Chair for the McKinney YMCA and Make a Difference Day Chair for the Volunteer McKinney Board.

Tami is a proud graduate of the 2018 Leadership McKinney Class. She was previously honored with two awards: in 2020 for Volunteer of the Year from the McKinney YMCA and in 2021 for Volunteer of the Year Spirit Award from Volunteer McKinney.

Tami has been a substitute crossing guard for McKinney ISD for almost 20 years. She has been an active member of St. Gabriel’s Catholic Church in McKinney for over 25 years and currently holds a position as a Hospitality Minister. Tami also serves as a committee volunteer at the national YMCA NAYDO conferences.

In her free time, Tami enjoys spending time with her Granddaughter, family, and friends along with volunteering with various non-profits, and competing in local running events.
