Tom Podhajsky, his wife Kim and family moved to McKinney from Iowa in 2018.  They have three sons, one working as a surgical tech in Dallas and the other two attending McKinney Boyd High School.

Tom graduated from Iowa State University with a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering and is the Vice President of Project Management at Emerson in McKinney. Over the years, he has served as the Hobie Fleet 84 sailing club President, Cub Scout Pack 308 Cubmaster, Boy Scout Troop 308 leader, Christian Experience Weekend Director, and was the President of the school board for the Marshalltown Area Catholic Schools.  Tom joined the Volunteer McKinney Board in 2020.
