MCKINNEY, Texas- For the 19th consecutive year, Volunteer McKinney is facilitating one of the biggest projects of the year, McKinney Make a Difference Day.
On Saturday, October 28th, over 700 volunteers will be donating their time and talents to 23 different service projects benefitting 17 non-profit organizations.
Dana Riley, Volunteer McKinney’s Executive Director, is ready to help volunteers connect with their community. “This event has always been exciting because of the number of people who participate. Children, families, co-workers, members of McKinney’s City Council, restaurants and businesses come together for this fun day of giving back to McKinney.”
Non-profits who have projects on Saturday include: Baby Booties Diaper Bank, Chestnut Square Historic Village, City of McKinney Stormwater Management, Collin County Historical Society, Crape Myrtle Trails of McKinney, Embrace Texas, GraceToChange, Heard Natural Science Museum, Heard-Craig Center for the Arts, LifePath Systems, Meals on Wheels Collin County, North Collin County Habitat for Humanity, STARRY Counseling, Teens for the Cure, and The Samaritan Inn.
In addition, there are 6 different after parties that will take place once the projects are completed. Volunteers wearing their Make A Difference Day shirt receive half-off their bill at The One and Only Burger and Fries, Brother’s Pizza, Nom Nom’s Mexican Grill and Chill, Italian Garden, McKinney’s Raising Cane’s and Landon Winery.
Sponsors of McKinney Make A Difference Day include the City of McKinney, McKinney Community Development Corporation, Baylor, Scott & White, First United and Independent Bank.
